Stories began as a way to survive the silence.
Scott W. Burton is a writer, poet, director, and producer whose work explores memory, intimacy, identity, survival, and the invisible ways people remain part of one another.

The beginning
Poetry came first.
It began privately, as a place to hold the things that did not fit anywhere else. Over time, those fragments became an archive of hundreds—and eventually thousands—of pieces written across different versions of a life.
Eleven published poetry collections grew from that archive, including Forever Is Tomorrow and the ten-volume Chaos series. The poems remain the foundation beneath everything that followed.

Beyond the page
The form changed. The reason did not.
Long-form fiction and screenwriting opened another door: a way to let emotional ideas breathe through characters, images, silence, and time. The work expanded into novels, feature screenplays, short films, episodic concepts, and connected story worlds.
Projects such as Yellow Daisy, The Distance Between Stars, When We Were Here, and Room Tone continue that same search—finding honest language for the parts of human connection that are often felt before they can be explained.

Film
Writing became something that could be seen.
After producing independent short films, Scott moved toward directing his own work. Room Tone marks that next chapter: a short film built around separate interviews, unfinished love, and the things people finally say when the other person is no longer in the room.

The work does not promise answers. It offers recognition: evidence that grief, love, memory, fear, hope, and survival can exist in the same body at the same time.
Across poetry, fiction, and film, the goal remains simple—to make something honest enough that another person can find themselves inside it and feel, for a moment, less alone.
